Hillsborough Festival, December 11th 2005
As the winter morning sun shone through the trees over Hillsborough, the people of Sheffield gathered to celebrate all that is festive at the Hillsborough Christmas Festival. Children and adults alike joined Art in the Park to indulge in Christmas celebrations of a crafty kind.
The morning was spent creating the most fabulous Christmas cards and decorations with glitter and paper galore, and as the sun rose over the park, the finished products of glass painting shone in all their glory. Andy Goldsworthy proved an inspiration for our 'Land Art' project, which took place later in the afternoon. Volunteers worked together with nature, considering shape and form to make a colourful, leafy creation. The afternoon included jewellery making and the ever-present activity of chalking spread throughout the park and produced one of the most colourful, spectacular canvases I've seen at an event.
A fantastic day was had by all and the combination of fantastic winter sunshine and a great spot at the festival lead to a most favourable event. Happy Christmas from Art in the Park!
