A Bigger Bloom

This year we have created 300 blooming flowers that will be housed in the Botanical Gardens. Inspired by David Hockney's recent masterpiece ‘Bigger Trees near Warter’, this project has produced a 3D mural bursting with bright colours and interesting textures. There will be an exhibition opening Monday 18th June 5pm- 7pm and a public workshop on Saturday 14th July 11-3pm where you can make your own flower for free! To book on…

Kate Holden – Student Intern Art in the Park

I initially found out about Art in the Park through the University of Sheffield’s Internship Scheme which helps students gain the necessary skills and experience in the work place. I was drawn to the organisation Art in the Park because it appeared such a worthwhile charity, working with local people and communities, something I strongly believe is essential in any city. I have always been interested in the arts and Art in the Park wa…

We are pleased to have started working in schools across Sheffield. This has provided young people with the chance to participate in creative activities that are outside those normally taught in the classroom. This includes after school clubs which are informal and relaxed. This inspires youngsters, even those who think they don't enjoy art, and they learn how relaxing and beneficial creative activities can be.

Family Learning Celebration, Town Hall, 22nd March, 10pm-2pm

On 22nd March, Sheffield Town Hall staged a Celebration event for Family Learning. One of our resident artists ran a craft session to record the learning journey in a creative way, using a Jigsaw design to build up a collage of their different experiences. The smaller individual collages were then assembled into one larger “journey”. Participan…

Our final Wild Things session of the year was well attended despite the wintery weather. We started the day lantern makihng in the library, this was very enjoyable for the children who loved making big lanterns. This was followed by a parade of all the lanterns that had been made. This was a great way to display everyones hard work and we even sang carols as we made our way through the park and back to centre!
