Volunteer Project Assistant

Art in the Park is a community arts charity, and we are currently recruiting for an unpaid Volunteer Project Assistant. The role will involve 15-30 hours per week to join the team for between 4-12 weeks (to be negotiated) with a range of start dates throughout the year (it’s an ongoing scheme). We are looking for someone who: - is enthusiastic and reliable,

- has a ‘can-do’ attitude, takes initiative and is willing to learn.

- has great written and verbal communication skills

- loves using Facebook and/or Twitter to create a buzz about things

- is organized and a good planner.

This role is ideal as a placement or work experience opportunity and the days and times can be flexible to accommodate other commitments (such as lectures or work)

Tasks will include:

• Promoting Art in the Park and developing our online presence.

• Developing and distributing publicity materials.

• Increasing our profile and developing our organizational identity on Facebook and Twitter

• Updating the Art in the Park website.

• Liaising with artists and volunteers and supporting recruitment

• Supporting forthcoming events including booking venues, transport etc

• Attending events including taking photographs, carrying out evaluation and monitoring.

• Maintaining and developing our contacts.

Board Members

Art in the Park is Sheffield’s leading community arts organisation. We are looking to recruit up to five new Board Members, with a range of skills and experience to support our work and to help strengthen our strategic direction. With a new business plan coming into effect June 2011, this is an exciting time to join the team and make a difference.

Skills and Qualifications:

Particularly of interest are those who can offer experience in finance, HR, the arts sector, or who have experience of acting as Chair. We look for individuals who are enthusiastic, have a vision for and a passion about environmental community arts and volunteering. The current board meets quarterly meetings for two hours in Sheffield city centre. There may be some additional work between meetings depending on your role within the board.
