Taking the traditional ideas of spring, renewal and community as our starting point we created a space for fun and exploration of the locality through the media of chalk paint and dance.
As our first 'performing' arts special event we weren't really sure what to expect, but with HYPE Dance on the scene to lend us a hand everyone got into some Hip-Hop moves, learning bits of a routine that was performed at the end of the afternoon.
We also decorated the performance space with chalking (maybe to the detriment of the cleanliness of trousers!) but added a wonderful splash of colour to the Peace Gardens round the back of Healthy Livig Centre.
We also juggling, spun poi and diaboloed, creating more movement and whirls of colour.
A large canvas was painted with a street scene featuring the Al Sultan Continental Food Store (watch out for this picture as we hope to site it permanently somewhere around Upperthorpe!).
It rained towards the end of the event, but this dampen our spirits, we just moved everything under cover and moved the dancing inside...
