Hi! I’m Louise, the new volunteer. Welcome to my Art in the Park report.
I knew Art in the Park was going to be fun but I didn’t realize running an event on this scale could work so well. I was expecting pandemonium, to be honest, but the whole day ran really smoothly, no matter how many kids got involved at any time.
Having the different activities in different corners gave the event a really good structure. Those more excitable kids could move from table to table without stopping those who wanted to really concentrate on one piece of art from creating their masterpieces!
It was really great to have people from al parts of the community making stuff together and to give budding artists the chance to show us their skills. The kids also enjoyed having something to take home to remember their day by. I’m going to make sure that any future works I’m involved will include a take-home part for the kids. The city I helped make was a little too big to take home! As well as making the city we did chalking and painting, and we made dream catchers and clay models. I had a great time making a collaged whale pool too.
Art in the Park is a great event that the whole family can come and enjoy. You’ll certainly be seeing me at the next one. You should come too!
